Limb plethysmograph

A limb plethysmograph is a diagnostic device that measures changes in blood volume within the arms or legs by detecting variations in limb circumference or blood flow. It is used clinically to assess peripheral circulation, helping identify conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, arterial blockages, or venous insufficiency through non-invasive monitoring of blood dynamics.

These devices typically include sensors—such as pneumatic cuffs, photoelectric probes, impedance electrodes, or strain gauges—connected to an electronic unit that processes and displays volumetric or flow data.
