The therapy is based on the knowledge that when the optic nerve is damaged, the tissue is not completely destroyed. Many cells survive but are disturbed in their function. With the targeted use of light alternating current that is individually tuned to the patient, Eyetronic therapy stimulates the metabolism of the nerve cells in order to promote the restoration of function and prevent further cell degradation. The efficacy of this non-invasive therapy has been confirmed in clinical studies.1 The treatment has been offered in selected centers since 2014.
