In 1927, he set up his own business in a small building An der Steig in Wurmlingen and started producing surgical scissors on a small scale. During the Second World War, production was temporarily suspended but resumed after the war in around 1946. The father of the current company owner, Siegfried Helmut Martin, began his apprenticeship in his father’s company when production resumed after the Second World War. He obtained his master craftsman’s certificate on 29 June 1957, then took over the company. In 1960, he bought a plot of land in Weilheimer Str. in Wurmlingen, on which he built a new production building to house various mechanical grinding machines, and moved in in 1968. Surgical scissors were manufactured here with a fluctuating workforce of 15 to 25 people.
